While thinking about what I encountered today, I realized that I need to be more grateful for good customer service. Because I got none today.
(just know I'm telling these stories tongue-in-cheek, and I'm not actually mad about them anymore.)
Today, I went to go buy some cute baby girl clothes for our friend's baby shower. I got to the check out counter with clothes, bag, and card in hand, and the clerk says to me, "So, you're having a girl?" I looked at him, and after a slight pause said, "...No... I'm going to a baby shower soon." He didn't even apologize. I'm choosing to blame the coat I was wearing on that one.
Then tonight, we had a gift card for Olive Garden and have wanted to go for a while. So we finally went tonight, to partake of the "Tonight and Tomorrow" promotion they have going on. They sat us at a table next to a group that was completely drunk. (And redneck.) Then, we heard the waitress say to them, "Yeah, I went to school with him!" pointing to one of the guys. Ok, that's cool I guess. But then, she walked past us like 4 times without talking to us, to talk to this family. It took her 3 trips to get our drink and starters order, then another 2 to actually bring them out (without silverware). When we asked for silverware, she said, "You didn't get silverware?!" Like we were supposed to just up and grab it.
I got my soup and Brandon got his salad, but she did not offer to refill us until 10 minutes after we had eaten it. Needless to say, she did NOT get a good tip. Because she was 3 feet away from us for most of our meal, but didn't do much for us.
THEN! For my birthday, I just wanted a trip to Starbucks. It's sad to not have it in Rexburg. We finally got to go to Starbucks, as it's in the same parking lot as Olive Garden. I ordered a grande Caramel Apple Spice, and when she handed it to me it was overloaded with whipped cream. Now, I know they're supposed to ask! But it wasn't that bad. I just wanted to make a scene because she didn't ask me. Also, we had just dealt with Bad Waitress so I was not impressed.
It's petty, but it did make me appreciate the good service we get on a daily basis (when we get it). And never ever EVER ask a woman if she's pregnant, unless you see the belly and it's obvious she's about to pop! (which I was not)
